If you want to learn how to play Caribbean Stud, you’ve come to the right place! In this beginner’s guide, we will walk you through the rules and best strategies for playing Caribbean Stud poker.

How to play Caribbean Stud

Caribbean Stud Poker is one of the most popular casino poker variants out there. The game was invented in the early 80s and became an instant hit among players looking for some quick and fun poker action. Today, Caribbean Stud is enjoyed in casinos all over the world, and also here at Boom Casino! The game is quite similar to Casino Hold’em and Three Card Poker, but there are a few key differences you should be aware of before playing your first hand.

After taking a seat at the Caribbean Stud table, you need to place an Ante bet in order to play. Once your bet has been accepted, the dealer will deal you five cards face up. The dealer also gets five cards, but only one of them is visible to the players. Your five cards and the dealer’s single visible card should give you all the information you need to make your next move. After the cards have been dealt, you can choose to fold your Ante bet and wait for the next round or continue by placing the 2x Play bet, which is equal to double the Ante. For example, if you bet €10 on the Ante, you’ll need to bet €20 more to go to the showdown.

At the end of the round, you win by having the best poker hand using your five cards. The hand rankings follow standard poker rules, from high card to royal flush. The payout is based on the quality of your hand, which means you win more by creating a flush, straight, or another high-quality hand. Here are the payouts in standard Caribbean Stud:

  • Royal Flush: 100 to 1
  • Straight Flush: 50 to 1
  • Four of a Kind: 25 to 1
  • Full House: 10 to 1
  • Flush: 7 to 1
  • Straight: 5 to 1
  • Three of a Kind: 3 to 1
  • Two Pairs: 2 to 1
  • One Pair or less: 1 to 1

Keep in mind that the dealer needs to qualify with an Ace plus a King (AK) or higher in order to give you these payouts. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, you win double the Ante bet but the Play bet is pushed.
