In this two-part guide, we will take a closer look at one of the most popular poker games in the online casino world: Three Card Poker. This fast-paced poker game is played with only three cards and offers a high payout percentage and a lot of excitement. Keep reading to learn how to play Three Card Poker at Boom Casino!
Three Card Poker rules
Three Card Poker is played with a standard 52 card deck, and as always the goal is to beat the dealer by having the best hand at the end of the round. The biggest difference between Three Card Poker and most other casino poker games is that the objective is to create the winning hand with only three cards. There are no flops, turns or rivers here, and no additional cards are dealt after the three initial cards.
Playing Three Card Poker is super easy, and you only have two options to choose from after receiving your three cards: to play or to fold. At the beginning of the round, you have to place an Ante bet. You will then receive three cards face up, and the dealer will get three cards face down. If you are confident in your hand, you can place a play bet equivalent to the ante bet. Otherwise, you can fold your cards and forfeit your Ante.
Once you have made your decision, the dealer will reveal their hand and the best hand wins. Similarly to Casino Hold’em, the dealer has to qualify in order to give you the maximum payout. If you win but the dealer doesn’t have a high card of Q or higher, you will only win the Ante bet and the play bet is pushed. If you win and the dealer has a Q or better, you will win both the Ante bet and the play bet.
Another thing to keep in mind is the hand strengths. Since the game is played with only three cards, not every poker hand is achievable – for example, it’s not possible to get two pairs or a full house. Here are the possible hands (from highest to lowest): mini royal, straight flush, three of a kind, straight, flush, pair and high card. You may have noticed that straight is ranked higher than flush, and that is because it is easier to achieve a flush than a straight in Three Card Poker. What’s more, you’ll win an extra Ante bonus if you win with a straight, three of a kind or straight flush.
In addition to placing the Ante, players have the option to place two different side bets for a chance to win even bigger prizes: Pair Plus and 6 Card Bonus. We will take a closer look at these side bets in the next part of our three card poker for beginners guide, so stay tuned!
